Nowadays so many job applicants have the same attendance CAD training certificates, which are not universally trusted by employers. Indeed those I talk to, during my national in-house CAD training activities, are more keen to employ only those with good CAD skills. So it s quite common for them to ask for a basic CAD skills test at a job interview. So I asked an employer to give me a comment on this issue and this is what he wrote:-
Testing a candidate for work that calls for a capacity to create a CAD drawing cannot possibly rely on a certificate that comes from the conclusion to a period training. However, whilst there might be a case to consider an applicant who has achieved a broadly recognised standard of competence in a tutored environment, this should only assume that such an applicant could potentially, with workplace experience, make a worthwhile contribution to a draughting office. An account also needs to be made of the specific requirements of the designers understanding of the engineering environment that they may be called upon to work within. Product knowledge, workplace experience and an ability to demonstrate real examples of commissioned work will always prevail over a test certificate to a potential recruiter.
So to improve the chances of candidates getting a well paid CAD job, I have created a remote instructor lead CAD skills course, which for unemployed (Proof required) is then followed by a free email supported practice service, to keep CAD skills fresh for a job interview CAD test.
CAD skills course format:-
1st day learn to drive CAD software, a bit like learning to drive a car, without needing to know how the engine works. Refined over 20 years of experience as a CAD trainer, I have found that this method is a an easier and more rewarding approach to learning.
I will be able to see your progress whilst conducting your training via Zoom meeting software. Each trainee will receive a specially written course companion manual posted to their home address, prior to the course.
2nd day Practice the basic skills on learned on day 1 on actual CAD work drawings, taken from my CAD drafting days. This will help to build confidence and efficiency with CAD software.
Next course date 3rd & 4th March - course fee £495+vat (£594)
